Early Communication

Preschool:

• Delayed Speech

• Mixing Up The Sounds and Syllables In Long Words

• Difficulty Learning To Tie Shoes

• Trouble Memorizing Their Address, Phone Number, Or The Alphabet

Elementary Grades:

• Dysgraphia (slow handwriting that is difficult to read)

• Letter Or Number Reversals

• Extreme Difficulty Learning Cursive

• Slow, Choppy, Inaccurate Reading  (guesses based on shape or context, skips or misreads prepositions, ignores suffixes, or can't sound out unknown words)

• Terrible Spelling

• Often Can't Remember Sight Words (they, were, does) Or Homonyms (their, they're, and there)

• Difficulty Telling Time With A Clock With Hands

• Trouble With Math (Memorizing multiplication tables, sequencing of steps, directionality)

• Communication- Difficulty With Word Finding

       Uses "thing", "thing", "you know", and "whatyamacallit"

       Common sayings come out slightly twisted

• Extremely Messy Bedroom, Backpack, And Desk

• Dreads Going To School (Feels sick or has nightmares about school)

• THEY HAVE DIFFICULTY REPEATING A PHRASE OR SENTENCE

• THEY ARE NOT USING MANY WORDS TO COMMUNCATE

• THEY LOOK LESS AT YOU AND ARE MORE FIXATED WITH OBJECTS

• THEY CAN'T FIND THE RIGHT WORD, SO THEY USE THE WORD "THING"

• THEY DO NOT ASK OR ANSWER QUESTIONS

• THEY HAVE DIFFICULTY LEARNING HOW TO READ AND SPELL

• THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND JOKES

• THEY HAVE DIFFICULTY TELLING YOU A SHORT STORY

• THEY CANNOT ANSWER QUESTION ABOUT A PARAGRAPH AFTER READING THE PARAGRAPH
